The Guangzhou Flood Control Mobile Rescue Team was established in May 2005 and is directly administrated by the Office of Guangzhou Flood Control and Drought Relief and Wing Proof Headquarters. Guangzhou Water Conservancy & Hydropower Station Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. , which is a mobile rescue team with high levels of professional technical experience and mechanical rescue capabilities, serves as the administrative body of the team.
Over 11 years since its establishment, the Guangzhou Flood Control Mobile Rescue Team has faced several challenges of sudden and extreme weather during flood seasons. Under the leadership of the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the Office of Guangzhou Flood Control and Drought Relief and Wing Proof Headquarters, the team has fought typhoons and floods and drained waterlogged areas, thereby gradually strengthening themselves in the fight. Moreover, the team helped establish the district rescue teams of Luogang, Nansha, Huadu, Haizhu, and Panyu, making outstanding contributions to the three-prevention and rescue work of Guangzhou. The team served as the main force on the site of the “06.6” extraordinary flood emergency in Da'ao Dam in Liuxihe River by dispatching more than 200 machinery equipment and rescuing more than 1,000 passengers. Under the leadership of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, Guangzhou Water Bureau, and the Office of Guangzhou Flood Control and Drought Relief and Wing Proof Headquarters, the team continued to strive for more than 20 days and nights, thereby successfully completing the rescue mission and ensuring the safety of the dam and the lives and properties of 1 million people downstream.
With experience in actual rescue operations spanning eleven years, the Guangzhou Flood Control Mobile Rescue Team has organized all kinds of operation training for handling emergency rescue equipment and large-scale drills of flood control, which has further improved their rescue capabilities. Now, the team has become a flood control mobile rescue team with the mission, “call to come, come to fight, fight to win.”
